Douglas RNLI lifeboat was launched today (4 June) at 9.20am when a small vessel reported an engine failure.
The Douglas all weather lifeboat, Sir William Hillary, under the command of volunteer coxswain Graeme Cushnie went to the aid of the 8m vessel with three people on board which had been making its way to Barrow in the company of another similar vessel.
As the lifeboat was making its way to assist, the casualty vessel’s crew reported to the CoastguardĀ that they had managed to restart their engine and were prepared to continue to make their way to Barrow with their accompanying vessel. Having ensured that the casualty vessel and its crew were in no further need of assistance from the lifeboat, the lifeboat was stood down by the Coastguard at 9.35am to return to station.
