Early morning call for RNLI Douglas lifeboat crew volunteers

RNLI Douglas lifeboat volunteer crew members were paged at 6.35am today(27 July) when a local fishing boat got into difficulty in Douglas Bay.

The fishing boat with three people on board had called for assistance when the boat’s propeller fouled a rope rendering the boat immobile.

The RNLI all-weather lifeboat Sir William Hillary launched under the command of volunteer Coxswain Neal Corran to tow the casualty vessel back to its berth in Douglas Harbour.

The lifeboat then returned to station where it was re-housed and made ready again for service by 7.30am
