RNLI Douglas lifeboat called out to assist in search for missing yacht

RNLI Douglas lifeboat was launched today (4 June) at 5.04pm at the request of Holyhead Coastguard to assist in the search for a missing yacht.

The RNLI all-weather lifeboat Sir William Hillary was launched under the command of volunteer Emergency Coxswain Graeme Cushnie to join Lytham St.Annes, Fleetwood and Barrow RNLI lifeboats in their search for an overdue 21 ft yacht sailing from the Isle of Man.

The yacht was successfully located by RNLI Lytham St Anne’s all-weather lifeboat Her Majesty The Queen and taken under tow at which point Douglas lifeboat was stood down to return to station. The lifeboat was re-housed and ready again for service at 6.50pm.
